Our class.
These nice people are from Germany, Bulgaria, Italy, Romania,Greece, Czech Republic, Spain, Finland, Lithuania, Latvia and Poland.
Many thanks to our NAEP. My Malta experience would not be possible without it. NAEP provides promotion of educational programmes, assistance and consultancy services, management of funds and contracts for decentralized actions, monitoring, dissemination and valorisation, organisation of seminars and conferences.
This course was chosen because I felt the necessity of developing my knowledge of ICT tools for the purpose of working via etwinning .
Also I would like to upgrade my class blog.

Saturday 3rd August
A trip to Dingli cliffs.
There was a place of amazing beauty and peace. The place was so quiet, there were no people there, so peaceful that I felt an absolute freedom there."The Sea of Tranquility" started at the west part of the cliffs where the settlement of bronze age is visible.
I found a description of this place written by someone who lives in Malta.
My all day pilgrimage ended in St.Paul´s Grotto in Rabat. After so many hours of walking I really enjoyed sitting on the steps of St.Paul´s Grotto, sitting in peace and harmony sitting alone but not being alone.......
It was one of the most powerful moments of my stay. I am sure that I will draw strength and inspiration from this moment in the future.

Friday 2nd August
Our last day at school we had to say good bye, and it was rather sad. I met great people here. I hope to see them in the future. There are plenty of possiblities of international projects, so I hope to create something especially with Stefanie my nice housemate.
In the evening I went to Vittoriosa. It is a charming town with calm narrow streets. The locals greeted me warmly and were willing to talk. I liked a conversation with and old man who showed me his workshops and his works - clocks, galerias, boats..... He was proud of the tools which he had made when he was young. His jack plane was the same, which my grandfather used to use. The chiming of the bells of local churches was my final reward. The chiming invitied people to join the services.

Thursday 1st August
Snorkelling.
Cart Ruts surprisingly close to St. Giljan. I have been talking about them since my visit of the Museum of Archeology in Valletta. I found them finally today.. It would not be possible without a help of a nice local men who took me there by his car.
Fascinating again.

Evening trip to Mdina and Rabat.
Evening trip to Mdina and Rabat.
Monday 29th July
School activities were too complicated – webquest – it is good as a page full of sources for teaching but I cannot imagine creating my own webquest – it is very time -consuming.
In the afternoon I wanted to work on my blog and send some emails. I did not manage all because at 4 pm the internet connection was interrupted and I had to go home.
I went on our rocky beach and I had a swim and stayed in the Sun for the second time of my stay. Not for a long time, only for about 20 minutes and I liked sunbathing. It seems to me that I am getting used to it.
In the evening at 21:30 we were invited by our school to go to a disco. I was not interested but Stefanie said that it is necessary to try everything so I joined her. It was a club called SOHO and the DJ was nice, songs were perfect, barmen were amazing – I admired their skills, drank Cuba Libre, which tested nice, but the noise was terrible. Staying a minute longer I would be deaf completely.
Sunday
An excelent trip to the South. We went by bus and our first visit was Hagar Qim a prehistoric temple 6,000 years old. Really amazing.
I also had some time to see Festa in St Julian in the evening. The video was made by one of my schoolmates Anna Serban. I had not asked you for your permission dear Ana,but I hoped that you would agree with this hyperlink. Ana´s other video Blue Grotto is also very good. Thank you.
Saturday
Trip to Gozo. Leaving St Julian at 9 for Gozo island. Ferry took 40 minutes, seeing Gozo with its castles approaching was nice. There was also Comino visible and its Blue Lagoon. We took another local bus and went to see the west coast with the Azure Window. I took a boat trip through the cave to the Window. The trip took only about 20 minutes but it was amazing. The sea is so clear that there are corals growing there. I also saw some fossils in the sand stone on the coast.
Later we visited Victoria the capital and its citadel. We did not have much time to explore everything but what I saw was amazing. At first I took a circular walk on the fortification and I found a little arrow to the Power Magazine – a storage of power for canons. There were really nice children as volunteers and offered me to visit silos which were accessible through a tunnel. The iluminated tunnel in the sand stone was amazing but reaching the silos was fantastic. They were cut out in the stone perfectly. Smooth cylindrical walls and the illumination allowed me to see the silos as underground temples from prehistoric times. It was not like this, of course. The silos were medival containers of grain and water. However, when I got out I said:”Wow “ and immediately went inside to experience it once more. The thing is that whole Malta is overcrowded with tourists , the citadel also, and there was nobody in the tunnel and the silos. I still have the image of them inside.
We went swimming to Xlendi bay. There were huge chalk cliffs like in England . It was easy to imagine that I was swimming under the Seven Sisters. Jitka fed the fish and they really came to nibble. We saw a dog warm out of the water. I got sunburnt a bit, but the trip was great. Only Spanish students complained that it was too hot and the air conditioning did not work properly (true). After dinner we went for a walk to try to find Pembroke Fort , where an international private school is placed these days. We found a lovely residential house – locals told us that it used to be barracks for British soldiers and now it is a comfortable dwelling for ordinary people.
P.S Anna spoke about the” sponsors” of local university- there are 2000 students from Dubai and 2000 students from China at university and their states pay 25,000 Euro for each student per year.

Friday
I tried to organize my notes and work on my laptop in the afternoon, but we were taught too intensively. I am afraid that I will not be able to sort everything out. Especially, when editing this blog does not work properly.
Thursday

Wednesday 24th
After school we left our laptops at the office and went by bus 225 to the west coast to Golden bay, there were lovely beaches. I enjoyed swimming in crystal clear worm water. It was fantastic. We also saw the oldest prehistoric temple in Mgar and bought local tomatoes from producers. Everything is being watered here. Malta is a very dry country.
The back journey was a real adventure. We waited for our bus for 1 hour – it was supposed to go 3 times in an hour according to the timetable, but finally we had to take a different bus, but the driver spoke only Maltese. Surprising, isn´t it? So we could not get any information from him. We got off somewhere, but next bus did not stop, another one took us to a stop where we could catch our bus, but some of them were overcrowded so the drivers did not let us get on.
The last bus stopped in few minutes, because 3 inspectors wanted to check all the tickets and some people jumped off so they followed these people and forced them to get on again and pay the fine. It took a lot of time and a bus behind us could not get from the bus stop and hit into us , the back window crashed into pieces and we had to use a different bus. When I was apologizing at home for being late for 1.5 hours it seemed to me that they thought that I was making excuses only. We had seen 2 chameleons and a scink.
Being at home, I can say that this afternoon was great.

Tuesday 23rd July
Yesterday Anna, our landlady took us to school by car. Today we walked to school alone. It took us twenty minutes and we walked along the road watching and admiring the sea. The town beach is also not bad.
We worked on good tasks –creazaeducation and discoveryeducation power maker both can be useful in my lessons. Wordle was also good for an arrangement of mixed sentences.
I liked the lessons very much the tasks were colourful and entertaining. Everybody was rather interested in the tasks.
Good dinner - fish with potatoes and vegetables, talking with our landlord – Ray about power sources – they have their own power station burning imported oil.
Swimming.

Monday 22nd
Three teachers are accomodated in our family - Stefania from Italy and Horst from Germany. They are nice companions.
School ETI is placed not far from the sea in a modern building with another school. The place is overcrowded with students.
In our group there are 16 teachers. Lessons today were quite interesting - the ability of adding subtitles to films is rather good for a language teacher.
When we finished lessons at 14.30 we had a welcome snack on a terrace - national baked speciality with cheese or peas - pastizzi. Both were excelent.
Sunday 21st 2013
Flight from Wienna airport by Air Malta. We arrived on time at 22:10. Getting off the plane was a climate shock - it was really hot with high humidity.
Getting us to our accomodation was a long story. The driver Anthony was desperate because he had to manage to get home 12 people and everybody was accomodated in a different place of a large area. I met my family after midnight.
During the night Malta seemed to be one huge city with pictoresque buildings and interesting new constructions made of concreat. Nothing for me who loves wild countryside in England, expecially dark gloomy moors – I miss them.
Introduction
Malta is a marvellous state not far from Africa. Its climate is hot and humid. It consists of three islands Malta, Gozo and Comino. There live about 400,000 people.
